Cryptocurrency

Altcoins
Alternative coins, are the whole variety of cryptocurrency assets. Bitcoin is the reference (because the first one) and all the other are considered as alternatives.

Bitcoin /ˈbɪtkɔɪn/
A type of digital currency in which encryption techniques are used to regulate the generation of units of currency and verify the transfer of funds, operating independently of a central bank.

Cryptocurrency
A digital currency in which encryption techniques (to make it as much difficult as possible to read through without the right key) are used to regulate the generation of units of currency and verify the transfer of funds, operating independently of a central bank.

Encryption technique
It’s the process of converting information or data into a code, especially to prevent unauthorized access.

Wallet /ˈwɒlɪt/
A Cryptocurrency wallet is a collection of private keys but may also refer to client software used to manage those keys and to make transactions on the Bitcoin network.

 


Blockchain

Asset
Virtual assets are electronic data stored on a computer or the internet. These assets include emails, digital photos, electronic bank statements, domain names, tokens and online accounts.

Blockchain /ˈblɒktʃeɪn/
A digital ledger in which transactions made in bitcoin or another cryptocurrency are recorded chronologically & publicly.

Decentralised
It the principle of not having the informations centralised in one place, like a server. Everyone have the possibility to possess the information and in the same time.

Ledger
It’s a digital (non physical) ledger (historic/repertory), which is recording all the transactions ever made in Bitcoins(or other currencies). This ledger haves the particularity to be dematerialised and mainly decentralised. It does mean that the ledger is everywhere, at anytime. No possibility to hack, cheat or corrupt the ledger, there will be always the true version somewhere else.

Private keys
It’s a bit like the combination of your personal email address AND your password combined. It’s a chain of number & letters which are unique and which one should be protected.

ICO

ICO /I.C.O/
Also called Initial Coin Offering, it is an unregulated means by which funds are raised for a new cryptocurrency venture. In a very early stage of the future company.

Token /ˈtəʊk(ə)n/
A voucher used to represent different assets on a blockchain.

White paper
It is a authoritative report that informs readers concisely about the project. All complex details, philosophy or informations are related into it.
